Washington, D.C. – The following is a statement in reaction to the latest news on the parliamentarian:

Bridgette Gomez, Campaign Director for the We Are Home campaign, said:

“In 2020, Democrats came to our communities asking for our votes and we delivered and elected them so our families and communities can finally breathe free. In 2022 Democrats will ask for our votes again, and it is in their best interest to show results when it comes to immigration.

Today’s news is irrelevant when it comes to who will ultimately be held responsible. Senate Democrats do not get to hide behind a staffer, they are in charge, they were elected to deliver citizenship and that is how they will be measured.

We know our Congressional champions have other legislative options they are pursuing, and we will support those efforts until we get to a YES. But no matter what advice they get from a staff attorney, they have the power to deliver for immigrant communities and their families this year.”
